Fine Arts

All School Theater brings together students from 4th grade through high school to tell stories worth telling. Students build confidence, learn to listen, and discover what it means to collaborate toward something bigger than themselves. Whether it’s their first time on stage or their tenth, they leave with skills and friendships that last.

Band begins in 5th grade and gives students a foundation in musicianship that grows with them through high school. From learning their instrument to performing as an ensemble, students develop discipline, technique, and the joy of creating something beautiful together. It is a program where hard work and a love for music go hand in hand.

Beginning in 5th grade, choir gives students the chance to use their voice to worship, perform, and connect. They develop vocal technique, learn to harmonize, and experience the unique power of making music together. It is one of the most joyful ways we celebrate the creativity God has placed in each of us.

Elementary Fine Arts gives young students the chance to explore music, movement, and visual art as part of their everyday learning. Classes are designed to spark creativity, build confidence, and help students discover how God has uniquely gifted them. It is the beginning of a lifelong love for the arts.

High School Fine Arts gives students the opportunity to refine their craft through focused study in visual art and music. From ceramics and painting to digital design, students explore a range of mediums with advanced instruction and access to professional-grade tools and creative spaces. Whether pursuing the arts professionally or simply continuing a lifelong passion, students are challenged to create meaningful work with purpose and excellence. For those ready to take their training further, the Artist Academy offers an even deeper level of commitment and development.

High School Theater is a serious program for students who love to perform. Students tackle demanding productions, develop their craft, and learn what it takes to bring a story to life on stage. It is challenging, collaborative, and one of the most memorable parts of life at River Valley.

Middle School Fine Arts allows students to begin focusing on the artistic disciplines that interest them most through dedicated pathways like visual art, choir, band, and piano. As they grow in skill and experience, students strengthen technique, build confidence, and develop their creativity through consistent practice, collaboration, and performance opportunities.

Middle School Theater is often where students step into the spotlight for the first time. Along the way, they learn the fundamentals of performance, build confidence, and work together toward a shared goal. Students have the opportunity to learn from high school theater students who serve in mentorship and backstage leadership roles during middle school shows. And of course, there is nothing quite like the feeling of opening night.

Our high school media and production courses give students hands-on experience in the creative and technical side of live events, storytelling, and digital media. Through areas like music production, media production, broadcast journalism, lighting, and sound design, students learn industry-relevant skills while helping produce chapel services, theater productions, broadcasts, and school events. These programs are ideal for students who are creative, collaborative, and interested in the work that brings performances and productions to life behind the scenes.

Worship Team is a high school course where students learn to play together as a band and develop the skills to lead others in worship. It is part musical training, part spiritual formation — students grow as musicians and as servants. Each week, they put that into practice by leading worship for middle and high school chapel.
